Swing Lindy ... what?
Lindy Hop initially was a dance style of the 1920s and 1930s in the USA, the forerunner and the most versatile of the dances Jive, Boogie-Woogie and Rock ´n´ Roll for us to this day.
The unique mixture of couple dance - where the focus is on free dancing of different figures with partner guidance - and improvisation to music is still typical today. If the couple likes it, this also includes pair acrobatics (aerials).
Very important: Everyone of all ages can dance Lindy Hop to almost any style of music - it is constantly evolving! There is also no typical mood in the now very large international scene, as it is with some other dances. But learning and dancing is always fun and easy and the participants are encouraged to learn independently and to get involved - the more weird it is, the better!
In the course, the basics are taught first - basic steps (6/8 count), leading / following, simple figures and combinations. But we have always had the experience that people learn very quickly, so we like to incorporate smaller acrobatics or more advanced combinations.
ATTENTION: In good weather, the courses always take place outdoors on the Lehmannsfelsen. If the weather is bad, the training will be relocated to the dance halls (Wednesdays: university sports hall cafeteria at the Weinberg and Fridays: Spiegelsaal Volkspark). Participants will be informed about this by mail. The training location Lehmannsfelsen (Heinrich-Heine-Park) can be found here!
Educational goals: improvement of coordinative and conditional skills, development of musicality, rhythm and expressiveness training, improvement of body awareness and posture, strengthening of physical and mental vitality, improvement of flexibility, strengthening self-esteem and teamwork, stress reduction.
Important: If the university sports courses are fully booked and there is still no free place on the waiting list after a long time, please contact our club via e-mail. We will then try to offer further courses on a regular basis or in the form of workshops. All further information is also available by telephone on: 0176 222 91 732.
ATTENTION: Please register in pairs and bring parquet-friendly and abrasion-resistant shoes!
