The Korean martial art Taekwondo is known for its varied kicking techniques and efficient self-defense. Compared to similar sports such as karate or judo, taekwondo is characterized by a large, technical variance, which is combined with high dynamics and agility, which is why - at least since it became an Olympic sport - it is recognized worldwide as a competitive sport.
In the university sports course, the focus is on imparting a basic understanding of martial arts. Essential contents are therefore the basics of general self-defense and the essential block and kick techniques. An insight in other elements of the sport is always given.
Of course there is also a claim to make steady progress in the areas of fitness and stretching. For this purpose, strength training, endurance exercises and regular stretching units will be used in the weekly training.
With these basics in the technical field and advances in fitness and flexibility, elementary components of competition training will then be added to the timetable in the second half of the semester, so that participants will have a comprehensive insight into martial arts at the end of the semester.
- Learn basic taekwondo techniques
- Improvement of mobility, coordination and speed
- get to know competition rules
- fair and co-educational behavior
